The General Delegation of Wallonia-Brussels to the European Union represents the Governments of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in their dealings with the European institutions.
It is part of the Permanent representation of Belgium to the European Union, alongside the federal authorities and the Delegations of Belgium's other Regions and Communities.
It is the permanent link between the governments and administrations of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the EU institutions (Council and Representations of the Member States, European Commission and European Parliament).
The General Delegation, comprising three diplomats and 18 assistants, is involved in the day-to-day operations of the Council of the European Union. They represent Belgium in the different preparatory groups of the Council of the European Union, according to the established rotation. They also take part in preparing meetings of COREPER (Permanent Representatives Committee) and the Council of Ministers.
