Ahead of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the "Millefeuille Spa" initiative was launched almost a year ago when the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, at the initiative of its Minister-President, decided to set up a joint programme of French language courses with France for diplomats and managers of European institutions, following on from what France has already initiated as part of its Presidency.
This joint programme aims to help promote the use of French as a working language in the institutions at a time when English is tending to become the sole language. It also helps to strengthen cooperation between Belgium, France and the EU Member States that are members of the French-speaking community, while reinforcing the European Union in its diversity and multilingualism. Hundreds of people were trained in 2023 by theAlliance Française Bruxelles-Europe and the success of this initiative has led to its renewal in 2024.
